Our Story

The Ibberton has stood beneath Bulbarrow Hill for centuries.

When we took on the pub, it had been closed for around two years. Rather than see another village inn disappear, we set about bringing it back to life — renovating and rebuilding much of it ourselves as a family while preserving the character that makes the building special.

Today, The Ibberton is an independent family-run pub with food at its heart.

Our cooking follows the seasons rather than standing still. We work with good local suppliers, grow herbs, fruit and vegetables in our gardens, preserve what the seasons give us and increasingly look to the land around the pub for inspiration.

That philosophy will continue to develop. More of what we grow will find its way into the kitchen, alongside produce raised and sourced locally, while the gardens and grounds become an increasingly important part of The Ibberton itself.

But the idea behind the pub remains simple: cook properly, buy well, waste little, look after people and keep a Dorset village pub alive.

The Ibberton is still evolving — and that’s very much part of its story.
